German commercial sports broadcaster sportdigital will launch an HD channel on November 4, 2014.
The first carriage partner distributing the channel in HD quality will be Switzerland’s largest cable company UPC Cablecom. Negotiations are underway with further platform operators. The target is to achieve full HD coverage, according to sportdigital.
“The launch of the HD transmission in Switzerland at UPC Cablecom is an important step in sportdigital’s history,” managing director Gisbert Wundram said in Hamburg. “We now aim to further follow this path and also offer our channel focused on international live football on further platforms in Germany in HD.”
