German rights dealer Tele München Gruppe has acquired the rights to the new sitcom "Anger Management" from US production company Lionsgate for Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland.

This was announced by both companies without revealing financial details. The series is the first TV project by Charlie Sheen since his departure from CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men" around one year ago. The content is based on the same-named movie from Revolution Studios released in 2003 starring Adam Sandler, Jack Nicholson and Marisa Tomei. The US comedy achieved a global box office turnover of USD 178 million.
In addition to the German-language regions, the sitcom has also already been sold to Canada and Latin America. It is not yet known which TV broadcasters Tele München will licence the rights to in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
In "Anger Management", Charlie Sheen plays ex-baseball pro Charlie, who has to cope with anger management issues. His female co-actors are Shawnee Smith ("Saw", "Becker") as his ex-wife and Selma Blair ("Cruel Intentions", "Legally Blonde") as his therapist. Bruce Helford ("George Lopez", "The Drew Carey Show") heads up the writing team.
"Anger Management" will be produced by Lionsgate Television, the creator of series such as "Mad Men", "Weeds" und "Nurse Jackie". Shooting will commence on 19 March 2012. The TV debut is planned for June 2012 on US channel FX.
