German family channel Super RTL will launch a HD simulcast service on 1 May 2012 offering its original productions and international programmes in HD, for example "Bob the Builder", "Sally Bollywood" and "Robin Hood".
Super RTL HD will be available on the encrypted HD+ platform on Astra (19.2° East) through which German satellite households can access the HD versions of commercial TV channels for €50 per year. Further platforms will be added subsequently.
The channel which is owned 50:50 by Bertelsmann subsidiary RTL Group and US company Walt Disney first announced its HD plans in September 2011.
